Meet our Collective Members

Jessica Ward MSW, RSW

Hi, I'm Jess (she/her)! I'm a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist, and the founder of Long & Short.

I created Long & Short with a simple idea in mind: therapy should feel human, approachable and a little less clinical. I wanted to build a space where clients feel genuinely comfortable, and where independent therapists can build practices that reflect who they are while being part of a supportive community.

As a therapist, my work is warm, collaborative, and grounded. I pay attention to context, patterns, and the parts of your story that don't always get airtime. At the heart of my work is the relationship we build. It's a place to slow things down, approach things with curiosity, and make sense of what feels confusing. I'm known to use metaphors (often) and humour (sometimes dark), not to avoid the hard parts, but to stay with them.

I work with adults navigating chronic pain and illness, cancer, anxiety, trauma, grief, burnout, emotional abuse, and major life transitions. My approach is rooted in relational, person-centred therapy and draws from EMDR, parts work, narrative therapy, mindfulness, and strength-based approaches.

Outside the office, you'll usually find me outdoors, wandering antique shops, listening to live music, or hanging out with Lola, my long-and-short dachshund who inspired the name of this place.

madison troian macp, rp(Qualifying)

Hi, I'm Madison (she/her)! I'm a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and a member of Long & Short.

I work with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, borderline personality disorder, caregiver burnout, developmental diagnosis, and the emotional impact of cancer. Working with adolescents is one of my favourite parts of my practice. I love helping young people navigate the unique challenges that can come with the teenage years while supporting them in building confidence and resilience.

I tend to approach therapy with equal parts curiosity and practicality. I enjoy helping people untangle complicated thoughts and emotions while working toward changes that feel realistic and sustainable. I draw from CBT, DBT, narrative therapy, and mindfulness, always adapting my approach to fit the person sitting across from me.

Outside the office, I recharge by spending time by the water, skiing, reading a good book, or catching up on reality TV.

carling revill MSw, RSW

Hi, I'm Carling (she/her)! I'm a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist, and a member of Long & Short.

I work with adolescents and adults, with a special interest in autism, neurodivergence, suicidality, and people impacted by cancer. I also support individuals navigating ADHD, intellectual and developmental disabilities, anxiety, and depression. I know that some experiences can feel difficult to put into words, and I believe therapy should be a place where nothing feels messy or too much to talk about.

I'm naturally curious, both in life and in therapy. I'm always learning, asking questions, and looking for better ways to support the people I work with. I draw from DBT, mindfulness, strengths-based approaches, and neuroaffirming care, choosing the approaches that best fit your goals, strengths, and the way your mind works. I fundamentally believe that therapy works best when it honours the way you naturally think, communicate, and experience the world.

When I'm not working, you can probably find me reading a book, watching anime, spending time outside, or picking up a new hobby before I've finished the last one.

Hannah yoxall

Hi, I'm Hanah (she/her)! I manage all the administrative aspects of Long & Short Therapy Collective.

I completed my Bachelor of Science in Developmental Psychology, with a focus on child development, at Liberty University. I have been passionate about mental health and human development since adolescence, and this passion continues to motivate my work in the mental health field.

Outside of work, I enjoy reading, picnics while watching the sunset, and spending quality time with my family. These moments help keep me grounded and allow me to bring a calm, caring presence to my role each day.

As the backbone of our administrative team, I am often the first point of contact for new clients and take pride in creating a welcoming and supportive experience from the very beginning. I enjoy assisting clients with scheduling, answering questions, and helping them navigate their first steps with our clinic. I strive to ensure each interaction feels smooth, compassionate, and supportive, and I look forward to helping create a safe and comfortable environment throughout your wellness journey.

lola

Muse & Namesake

Lola is the long-and-short dachshund behind the name Long & Short. Small in stature but large in personality, she’s a daily reminder that contradictions can be both endearing and instructive, a core theme in the work done here. Lola embodies the wisdom of holding opposites gently: courage and tenderness, silliness and seriousness, long and short.

While she doesn’t attend sessions (HR made that very clear), her spirit is woven throughout the collective. Her legacy is a playful nudge toward self-acceptance, humour, and the understanding that we don’t have to fit neatly into any one shape to belong.
